This is very interesting, I am wondering if my grandfather, Michael Francis Gately of Nebraska, is part of this story. I know his people came from the Boston area. Later in his life, when he moved the family to Texas during the Depression, he set up a corner market named Gately Bros. It was run by my dad and his brothers for about 40 years. They sold it in about 1981. I am wondering if Grandpa came up with that name in memory of the old store in Waltham. If you have info on your ancestors descendents that may include my grandfather, please let me know at jmjennett@yahoo.com. Thanks!
