Hello,
I'm hoping to find some Gately connections from my family tree. I'm hoping to find out more information on who Catherine's mother was and James' mother. I don't know when or where they were born but Ireland and I would love to know who there parents are. Crossing my fingers I have some Gately relatives on the forum! :)
I was finally able to verify my great great grandmother's(Delia Kelly Dow) parents as James Kelly and Catherine Gately per a marriage certificate here in Newburyport Massachusetts.
I know that James Kelly and Catherine "Kate" Gately were married on 10 Jun 1871 Tissara, Roscommon, Ireland.
Here's the parish marriage on a FamilySearch extracted birth/baptism collection. It's an RC marriage - so the Christian names are in Latin :
Groom's Name: Jacobus Kelly
Bride's Name: Catharina Gately
Marriage Date: 10 Jun 1871
Marriage Place: Roman Catholic, Tissara, Co. Roscommon
Groom's father: Patritii Kelly
Bride's Father's Name: Jacobi Gately
James and Catherine had the following children
Mary Kelly / 25 Apr 1872 / Athleague, Co. Roscommon / Ref. 400
Bridget Kelly / 16 Jul 1873 / Roscommon,
Thomas Kelly / 22 Dec 1874 / Athlone No. 2
John Kelly / 15 Apr 1877 / Roscommon
Catherine Kelly / 21 Jul 1879 / Roscommon
I was able to find out that Thomas Kelly (their son) was born in Athlone.
Some of the extracted records have references which can be matched up to a civil Index record - and this works for one of the sons :
