There are lots of Gately's in Roscommon and lots of graves, the family going back many years. However, I believe that the name GATELEY started in England in Norfolk Shire where the village GATELEA existed and the first man named Ralph de Gatelea came from. There is a small Gateley Church in Norfolk that has existed since the Roman invasion...very small and picturesque.
