Nicholas Renouf's wife was Elizabeth Gatewood b:21 Mar 1828, VA, d:30 Jan 1899, Tarentum PA.Her parents were William and Elizabeth McCracken Gatewood. Here is her obituary:
From WFT #1594, Vol. 49
DEATH of Mrs. Renouf
In announcing the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Renouf, Tarentum loses one of its older residents, this having been her home since removing from the state of Ohio 40 years ago.She was a member of the M.E. church, but on account of feeble health was prevented from taking any active part in church work for several years, but she lived a consistent Christian life. The deceased was in her 71st year and has been a great sufferer for the past fifteen years, having then received the first stroke of paralysis. Her lastillness, which has extended for a period of four months, started with lagrippe, which ended with other complications fatally. Her last hours, though accompanied with great suffering, were quiet and peaceful, looking forward to the home in heaven and the meeting of the loved ones who have preceded her.Besides a host of friends, she leaves two brothers and a sister in Chillicothe, OH and four sons and three daughters, viz:John W. of Etna, Edward B. of Leechburg, N. Bion of Tarentum, Thomas W. of Beaver Falls, Mrs. T.J. McCall and Mrs. G. M. Parker of this place, and Mrs. L.S. Dickey of Chicago, to mourn her loss.
I believe the 78 year old Elizabeth living with the McCrackens might be Elizabeth McCracken Gatewood, b 1792 and d 1863 in Windsor Twp, Morgan Co, OH.The age is off by 10 years tho'.I don't have a source for her birthdate. This is from "The Descendents of Thomas Gatewood," by Richard S. Uhrbrook and Esther Gatewood Uhrbrook, pg. 19:
ELizabeth Gatewood, widow of William Gatewood, was listed a "Head of Family" in the 1840 U.S. Census, Muskingum Co., Ohio.In her household were two males 1-20; one male 20-30; one female under 5 years of age and one in the 10-15 year bracket. Her son William, and his wife, both in the 20-30 year age range, were reported in a separate entry immediately following that of Elizabeth Gatewood. In 1860 she was living in Windsor Twp., Morgan County, Ohio, in the home of her daughter Charlotte McCracken, wife of Joseph McCracken. Her son Thomas lived nearby.Elizabeth Gatewood died 26 June 1863 and was buried in Mt. Olivet Methodist Cemetery in Windsor Township, near Stockport, Ohio.
