I really appreciate the valuable biographical information you related about our common ancestor, George Gaty.It is my belief that George Gaty had a brother, Joseph, who at one time lived in Montgomery Co. Pa.The following exerpt was taken from "The Federal Gazette" - May 31, 1796.
"Joseph Gatty, artist from Italy-#79 Front St.-made thermometers, barometers, blew decorative glassware and made artificial fireworks."
A Joseph Gatty is recorded to have married Mary Brown in Christ Church, Philadelphia - Oct. 23, 1796.Interestingly, a Joseph Gatty is alo listed as marrying Elizabeth Ragsdale on Dec. 22, 1789 in Caswell, N.C.
Finally, I am inclucing this paragraph extracted from "The Andrew Zumwalt Family Vol. I" - by Paul Reed (1964).
"Letters of George Gaty, recently found by Mrs. Edna McElhiney Olson establishes that Gaty, a well-to-do Italian vintner and close friend of Jacob (Zumwalt) attended the latter's second marriage to Franqui Price."
