Why the 'LT' on the end of Gaudreault?
Posted by: Connie (leeson) Gaudreault Date: April 24, 2000 at 21:02:43

Here is the story as my uncle (who went to Quebec to research it) told me:
When a catholic had completed all of their sacrements in the catholic church, the priest would add an 'lt' to the end of their name.
Apparently this is shown to be true in church records from the area in Quebec that my uncle visited.
Now you know why some spell it 'gaudreau' and others spell it 'gaudreault' !!!!
sincerely,
Connie Gaudreault
