Thomas F. Gavin. The world is a lot less kind today because of the passing of Thomas. His nurturing soul and gentle touch left us for the Creator on March 15. Thomas will be remembered as a staunch supporter of love, compassion and understanding. The depth of his knowledge is only surpassed by the warmth of his heart. Few people have so deeply touched so many. Beloved husband and best friend of Marie T., nee Young; cherished father of Thomas (Maureen), Robert (Yolanda), Mary Kay (Terry) Walsh, Joseph, James (Rebecca) Gavin, Eileen (Bruce) Watson and Catherine (Christopher) Loss; loving grandfather of Keith, Lauren (Eric) Kilstrom, Emily, Kate, Gavin, Thomas, Marie, Vanessa, Jim, Matthew, Susannah, Natalie, Claire and Jackson; devoted son of the late Thomas and Ellen Gavin; adoring brother of Patrick (Josephine), John (the late Patricia), Patricia (Martin) Brennan, Mary (the late Lawrence) Daly, Robert (Karen), Michael (Patricia), James, Ann (Hugh) Dennehy, the late Margaret (Tim) Evans and Kathleen (the late Carl) Tiderman; fond brother-in-law of James (the late Patricia and Helen) Young, Virginia (the late Jim) Connolly, Robert (Jan) Young, the late Beatrice (the late Thomas) Towe and Edward (Bonnie) Young; kind uncle to many nieces and nephews. Visitation Monday from 2 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service Tuesday, 11 a.m. at The Robert J. Sheehy & Sons Funeral Home, 9000 W. 151st Street, Orland Park. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 120 Wall Street, 19th Floor, New York, NY, 10005 or an act in Tom's memory that furthers the cause of peace and justice, his life's passion. 708-857-7878 .
