I have recently gotten a record from the cemetary for Patrick Gavin and his wife Bridget, buried in Cincinnati, Ohio. It states Patrick died in 1887 at the age of 40, therefore birth year needs to be 1847. It just says born in Oughterard, Ireland and parents are Stephen and Margaret Gavin of Ireland. His wife Bridget Flannagan ( or would it be Flanagan?) died one year later in 1889 at the age of 35, so her birth year is 1854 and she was born in Paristown, Ireland. Her parents are Bryan and Mary Flannagan/Flanagan. Very difficult to access Irish records to see if information matches what little facts you have. A family contacted me that has a Stephen and Margaret Gavin from Bellamore, Oughterard, Ireland, saying Stephen had a son Patrick, but my known dates for Patrick would make him a sibling of this Stephen, not a son. Very frustrating trying to find that one bit of info as a factual record. No idea if Patrick and Bridget came to the US already married, or if they married here. Supposition has been they came married. Once again, can find no records to prove one way or the other.
