Hello I just saw your post and wondered if we are looking for the same people. I am looking for John & Mary Gavin, who went to America during the Famine in Ireland, we were told they suppossedly went to the southern states of America where they grew cotton. The John Gaven you mention who was 80 years old in the 1910 Census, would have been born in 1830, so he could have been the brother of our Bridget who ran away from home and came to Australia in 1841, she was born about 1825. She was in touch with her family, and they wanted her to join them, but she had married and had family here, so she stayed here. Her parents were John & Mary Gavin nee Connor, and because Bridget ran away from home, we do not know exactly where in Ireland she came from, but it could be Kilkerrin, Co. Galway. I don't know if this is any help, but hope it is, should you find a connection, could you please email us. Thanking you for your time. Best Wishes Peter & Roslyn Dunning Notify Administrator about this message?
