MARRIED 55 YEARS
Christopher Gazette and wife, North street, celebrated the 55th anniversary of their marriage on Monday.The couple are both quite hale and hearty.Mr. Gazette is now 76 years of age and his wife 68.Mrs. Gazette was probably one of the youngest brides, being but a few days beyond her 13th milestone when she was married.
Both Mr. Gazette and his wife are of French descent.Mrs. Gazette was born in Canada, her maiden name being Louisa Manville, while her husband is a native of New York, though his mother was born in France.
The couple have lived at various times in Danielson, Conn., Worcester, Whitinsville (where Mr. Gazette was employed as a moulder in the Whitin machine works), Putnam and this town.
Of the 13 children born to them, but 5 are living, 3 sons, Charles, Henry and Joseph and 2 daughters. Mrs. Frank Lambert and Mrs. Susie Jacques.
Mr. Gazette served in the Civil war, enlisting in Worcester on August 17, 1864.He is now a staunch member of the Samuel Sibley G A R, holding the office of color bearer.His wife belongs to the W R C being one of the oldest members.
The couple have lived to see their descendents to the fourth generation. and their friends wish they may live many years more to see great great-grandchildren as well.
