I hope that you, or others, may be able to help me. My second great-grandfather was Miles Gazlay of Flint, Michigan. He was born in 1807, the son of William C. Gazlay, and was baptized in Syracuse, NY in 1816. As there was a William Gazlay (actually Gazely) in Dutchess County, New York, in 1801, moving to the same Syracuse church in 1811, I assume that Miles was born in Dutchess County.

I also assume that William was the son of Jonathan Gazley, but I have been unable to pin down this connection. Do you have any information as to Jonathan Gazlay's children, and whether or not they include a William? One further assumption: the C. in William C. Gazlay's name is for Carter, which is Jonathan Gazlay's wife's maiden name. Any help you can give me would be appreciated.
