I have an old newspaper, Sussex Daily News 29 January 1894, which reports the inquest on Jasper Geall aged 43. He was an ex soldier (104th Bengal Fusiliers) and was an inmate of Firle Workhouse. Inquest was held at the Lamb Inn, Ripe. His brother, Robert, farm labourer of Ripe gave evidence. The inquest found that: The deceased met his death by accident, and that the cause of death was drowning" Please contact me if you'd like more details! By the way, I'm not related to the Geall family but thought I should post this on this forum. Jan Hill Notify Administrator about this message?
