Hi Brian, I am also trying to complete this branch of my family tree. I have yet to find info on John Geary's parentage. There are 12 trees on Ancestry.com with this same John Geary, and none of them contain his parentage. If you are able to find any further info, please share it.
Here is what I have:
my Grandfather, Wilbur Verne Geary 1920-1987 child of Edwin S Geary 1881-1965 and May L. Beacom 1881-1965, Edwin was the child of George A. Geary 1850-1922 and Mary Larkin 1852-1947. George was the child of John Jr Geary 1817-? and Hannah Crates 1813-1896. John Jr was the Child of John Geary 1789-1872 and Catherine (Coyle) Geary 1792-1872. Catherine Coyle was the daughter of John Coyle and Elizabeth Hanlan. I have long been trying to establish a link between our Gearys and the Gearys of nearby Mt Pleasant Pa (namely John White Geary). Unfortunately, I have not found any such link. I have also encountered claims that our Gearys are actually descended of Swiss settlers and the original spelling was Gehring...? I had always been told that my Geary ancestry was of Irish origin. Hopefully some fresh information will present itself eventually. Please let me know if you come across any.
Sincerely,
Parice
