Fred Gebhardt, Civil War Veteran, 87, Dies

Fred Gebhardt, aged 87 years 8 months and 4 days, Civil War veteran and a resident of Chetopa since 1878, died last night about 8 o'clock at his home in the north part of town. He had been ill several weeks and pneumonia was the cause of death. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. F. W. Coultrap and Mrs. A. M. Lee, both of Long Beach, Calif., and several nephews and nieces. His wife died about two years ago. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Friday afternoon from the home and interment will be in Oak Hill cemetery.

Mr. Gebhardt was born at Portsmouth, O., and came to Chetopa in 1878. He had spent most of his life farming.
