I am looking for info on Gebhardt's originating in Germany & ending up in the St. Louis, Missouri, area, or Belleville Illinois area in the 1800's.
My grandmother is known as Lena Gebhardt, born Mar 10th, 1896 in what we believe is Bellevillw Illinois. No birth certificate is there or any surrounding areas. We know her first son, my uncle was born there & she talked about it when she was alive. Lena had brothers, Phillip, & George, sisters Lizzy & Clara. There were full biological bro's & sis's. She is one of 13 children, the rest are half, bro's & sis's. here mother died when she was a "baby" her words. She went to live with a family of Willima Schwaab in St. Louis. This I have confirmed with census, federal & St. Louis from 1900 & 1910. her brother Phillip in a 1910 census is listed on the same census & I believe they lived nexxt door to each other from the Schwaab's. i am trying to find Lena's mother & father.
We do know both were born in Germany, where in Germany, no idea. It is strongly suggested, here mother's name is Helena, Madgalena or something similer. We believe her father's name was Phillip also, same as her brother. We do know she was named after her mother, & possibly at birth she was named Helena (or Lena), Elizabeth (something else) Gebhardt. Here mother would have died between 1896 & 1900. We know she went to live with the Schwaab's right after her mother died & she was living with them in 1900 federal census. It is possible the Schwaab's were an aunt & uncle or not blood relation at all. Both have been referenced at different times. Lena was the youngest of the 4 children I listed above also.
Any help anyone can give me would be so appreciated as I am lost, lost, lost here at a dead end.
I might add Lena Gebhardt was never married to my grandfather Albert Stoll. She was later in life married to a Charles Hayes in Rolla, Missouri.
