I am a decendant of Gebhard/Gepharts. My family originated in Germany and settled in Lancaster and Dauphin Counties, PA. Please forward this info on to the family you sent the photo to. I may have info we could exchange.

This is my lineage:

Gottleib (Godfrid) Gebhard arr. in Phila. 09-30-1754 b., d., and m. unknown maybe 4 children

son: Benjamin Gebhard (1799-1868) m. Catharine Nauman (1810-1891) 5 children

gson: Benjamin Nauman Gebhard (1845-1931) m. Fianna Brandt Boyer (1848-1917) 9 children

g-gson: John Boyer Gebhard/Gephart (1869-1928) 1m. Sara Nimiller (1865-1899) 3 children, 3 marriages totalled 11 children.

John Boyer Gebhard/Gephart came to Somerset County, PA. No one seems to know why. Was he somehow related to the Gebharts who founded Gebhartsburg, Milford Township, near Rockwood, PA? George Gebhart founded the town (with son, Simon, surveying the land) on November 22, 1834. George was a blacksmith and postmaster (p.o. established 1808). The town is only a few houses now and not on most maps anymore.

Eventually John returned to Eastern PA and his eldest children remained in Somerset County. Any help to make the Gebhard/Gephart - Gebhart connections would be appreciated.

Thanx! Anita
