Obituary for Elijah Gee of Highland, KS
I found this from a clipping of the actual printed notice that was published in the Troy Times. It is stored in a file cabinet, that is maintained at the Public Library in Troy, KS.

"OBITUARY - ELIJAH GEE
Troy Times - February 24, 1888
In Highland, Kans., February 12, 1888, Elijah Gee, aged 86 years.
Uncle Gee was born in Monroe county, Kentucky, in 1802, came to Buchanan County, Mo., in 1832, and to Highland, Kansas, in 1863. He was a slave for 61 years; was the father of eight children, of whom two sons and three daughters survive him. He was a consistent member of the Christian Church for more than 40 years, and died in the triumph of faith. He was highly respected by all who knew him. His funeral services were held in the Christian Church, on Monday afternoon. "Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in its season." - Job 5:26"

I believe that the surviving children, at that time, were:
1. Bird Gee
2. Smith Gee
3. Martha (Gee) Hubbard
4. Sally (Gee) Bland
5. Nancy (Gee) Bruce
