Mary Louise did not follow Fritz, Fred, Fredrick to Galveston. They arrived via NYC and first lived in Buffalo, NY. (see 1880 census) Both boys were born in Switzerland and came with them. They then moved to Galveston. They divorced in 1895 and Fritz gave up half the barber shop for Mary and the boys. Read the Galveston Daily News 1894-1895 for the story of the divorce. He was not a nice guy.
Family stories from the boys was "I was the sole survivor of a ship wreck" (that was the most used and many g-grandchildren grew up repeating this) After reading the stories you understand why they disowned their father and created this story.
