I believe I am a descendant of a Gabriel "Gabe" Gelinas who played with Jan Savitt's Band and also with the Glenn Miller AAF (Army Air Force) Band during WWII. My father was Raymond Charles Gelinas born 1933 in Manhatten, NY. While I never met or knew my grandfather, I was told he was a saxaphone player as described above. He became separated from my grandmother, Loretta Benoit Gelinas before he enlisted in the Army and in his enlistment (11 MAY 1943) records listed his marital status as separated. This record indicates a name of Gabriel Gelinas birthyear of 1910 with Cook County, Illinois associated with his birth. No mention on this record of any first name of Joseph. Listings of Glenn Miller AAF recording indicates Gabe Gelinas as his stage name.

I may have other info supporting this scenario.

Rawl Gelinas
