Sorry ... I've just now noticed Jeffrey Bassett's post containing the information that Clemence Gelinas wasn't a Gelinas at all! Besides the oddity of her husband, Bessette, having adopted the given name Gelinas, I notice the givens of the twins born in 1883: Delno and Seleno. How much do you want to bet that they were Delima (St Rose de Lima) and Celine? I notice that once our ancestors left Quebec, their given names were as hard to trace as the family names! Lucky if they were just Anglicized, sometimes impossible if they were badly mangled!
