Diana:
I appreciate your suggestion about the Mitchell Library website. It looks very interesting. What was the address for the home of James Gemmell, Tea Merchant, to view it?I know my g-grandfather lived for a time at 20 Bank St. in Hillhead, Partick.
As for the Paisley Gemmells, I suggest you simply enter the name "Paisley" in Search This Forum on this website, and there will be about 18 entries turn up.This should give you a starting point to make contacts. However, these are people mostly seeking answers about their Tree, not giving them, but you may glean some useful information for yourelf in talking to them. There are several more who have contacted me directly, but they are SEEKING answers about their origins as well, inclu. the descendant of Annabella Gemmell and John Millar.
How is the James Gemmell, Tea Merchant, connected to your family and are you really looking for descendants through his children and siblings? There are several additional children not in your list, inclu. Sarah b 1830 and David b 1831 (replacing an earlier David b 1829).John Gemmell also remarried in 1837 a Christina Moreham, and had an additional child named Margaret Whyte Gemmell, a half-sister to your relative James Gemmell.
If you think I can be of additional help, don't hesitate to contact me.
Hugh
