Afternoon Patricia:
Read your note and can offer a few observations that should be helpful. First of all, JANDREW, is an Americanization og Gendreau, or possibly (but unlikely)Gendron. Both are the same family, ancestry dating back to 870 AD, Maine-Anjou, France. However, Gendreau is probably your best bet.
I may have them, but cannot check until I finish entering my new families into my data base. I have something over 100,000 names.
One thing that might help is obtaining the death certificate of the earliest born (1886,I believe. That death certificate will be available through the state archives (Dept. of Vital Statistics) and or the area's Genealogical Society, Historical Society. Ask either of the two societies for obtituaries. Obits. tell you a great deal more than you might think. If you can locate the cemetery, ask them for grave registration and whatever information they might have. Believe me, they can really tell you a bunch.
Once you locate your 1886 gggrandfather, with death certificate or obituary, and see where he was born, maybe even who his parents were, then you're back in the early 1800s when people didn't move around so much. The entire family tree might be centered in that same area. And if not, then check the book, Rene Jette', is has a listing of who's who and who married whom and who they begat (their kids). Yes, it's a lot of hunting. After 14 years work on the three branches of Gendreaus/Gendrons, I can honestly tell you it is a lot of work. But it can be done, is done, and will get easier as more records become available.
If you're unable to do any good with the aforementioned steps, let me know.
As I said, right at the moment I working on comp8iling all three branches into volumes. Volume I, is completed, but am now formating and compiling an addendum to Volume I. (Volume I deals with Pierre "dit La Poussiere" Gendreau, who landed in June 1656, in New France (Quebec City). Volume II, which is half done, deals with the genealogy of Pierre-Jean Gendron, who landed in Three Rivers in 1664, settling in StAnne-de-la-Perade, Three Rivers, Quebec. Last will be Nicolas Gendron, who landed circa 1553, Quebec City. Nicolas and Pierre both came from I'le d'Oleron, Aunis, France. Pierre-Jean came from 30 miles inland, from St.Genard, District of Niort, (Bas) Poitou, France.
