I had been using Generations 8.5a on XP with NO problems at all until about 1 month ago. I notice that when I went to edit the name or date fields, the data that was already there was disappearing and that the top of the name card would show "UNNAMED." I realized that this was the dreaded "disappearing data syndrome" that several others have experienced. I checked my startup programs to see what was causing the problem. I added the startup programs back in one at a time, checking Generations each time. I found out which program was causing the problem. I disabled it and re-enabled all the others and restarted...everything was fine then. Here's the wierd part...
Out of curiosity, I decided to enable the program that was causing the conflict, and low and behold...NO MORE CONFLICT. I am loading everything at startup just like before and I no longer have the problem with Generations. There's no more disappearing data, even when I load the program that was originally causing the conflict. Has anyone else had this happen? Could the order that the programs are loaded at startup have anything to do with it?
