William H Gentry and service in the Civil War
Does anyone have any information concerning William H. Gentry and possible service in the Civil War.He was born 1840 in Shelby County MO.His parents were George W Gentry and Louisa T Carey.William H Gentry lived in Shelby county MO (see 1840 census), Monroe Co Mo. (1850 Census), Callaway Co. Mo (1860 census), Monroe Co Mo (1870 census), Henry Co Mo (1880 Census), Obituary 1900, buried in Englwood Cemetery.
Any help would be appreciated. The problem is that names and their recording in this period was not precise. There are two William H. Gentry's who fought for the confederacy. One was in the 1st Regiment Missouri Brigade and the other was in the 3rd regiment Missouri Brigade. There is one possibility there is a William Gentry who served in Co B. Burbrige's Regiment, Bowen's Brigade, enlisted in Pike County and who went to the Reunions in Texas. His youngest daughter was born in Texas in 1879.
Thank you
Steve
