Mahala Frances George was the daughter of Jesse Wesley George and Sarah Jane Huckaby. Jesse Wesley's father was Jesse George and his mother was Faitha "Faithy" last name unknown. Jesse's father was Jesse Geoge of Orangeburg District, later Barnwell Co., South Carolina
Jesse Wesley and his father are enumerated on the 1840 Muscogee Co., Georgia census along with the husbands of some of Jesse Wesley's sisters. In 1850, JW and his family are in Ouachita Parish, Louisiana. Four of his sisters families are living there as well (Sarah Gunter and her husband, Henry; Mahala Parker and her husband, West; Epsey Ann Johnson and her husband, John; Civility Green Gaskins and her husband John. Faithy, their mother, is living in the home of Sarah and Henry Gunter. Another sister, Anne, had died prior to the move to Louisiana, but her husband, Reason Pilcher, and their children are there.
JW and Sarah Jane are in Jasper Co., Texas by 1860. During the Civil War, JW served in the Wheelock Home Guards in Robertson Co, TX. Several of the family moved there.
Mahala's brothers and sisters were:
John Carey George
Jesse Green George
David Hilliard George
Louranna Elizabeth George
William Riley George
Caleb Bennet George
Delilah Jane George
Mary Olivia George
Matilda Artimicia George
Calista E. George
Joseph Wesley George.
Mahala died 13 Dec 1946 in Hico, Hamilton Co., TX. It's possible that Henry is buried in the Madisonville Cemetery in Madison Co., TX. For some reason, there's a Mahalia F. Menefee there as well (b. 1857 d. 1932), so I'm not sure if the information about Mahala's death in Hico is correct, or if this is Mahala George.
