I'm looking for information on the family of Lewis W. and Elizabeth Penland Gerard. Lewis was born in Ohio in 1831, later moved to Indiana (where Elizabeth was born--she is the daughter of Ambrose Penland), then to Wisconsin and finally settled in Michigan. Children are William (1856), Samuel (1858), Joseph (1860), Sementha J. (1861), twins Rosetta and Rosaletta (1866), Minnie B. (1868), Lorenzo (1871), and Maggie M. (1872). Lewis fought with the 38th Wisconsin Infantry in the Civil War, and was wounded in Virginia in 1864. They settled in Reynolds, Montcalm Co Michigan, and are listed there on the 1880 Census. They MAY have gone to Oregon after that--that is not confirmed as of yet. Elizabeth is buried with her grandson, Forest (son of William, my great grandfather) in Chippewa Co. Michigan. I would like to trade information with anyone else researching this family. Leslie Gerard
