I may be able to help. I have a Jane Gerrard, daughter of William Gerrard, who was a pilot of Sunderland on the John of Gaunt steam vessel. Sunderland is, however, referring to Sunderland Point near Lancaster. Jane was born 8.11.1835 to William and Jane Croft. They lived at Overton, near Sunderland and William is buried in the beautiful churchyard there.

I think it's a match, do you?
Isabel
