I married Joan Jarrett of Blakely Georgia, Early Co. and you can see the Post #1332 on the Jarrett Forum....
As I went back on the Jarrett Family, I found that her "Gateway" Ancestor to America, was Sir Thomas Gerard, of Ashey de. la.Zouche, "Agent for the Earl of Huntingdon. He is listed as a member of the 2nd Colony listed as coming thru Jamestowne , Virginia...This list is on line thru the Jamestowne Patriot Eligibles....
Sir Thomas Gerard, was married to Elizabeth Newton, as they married Feburary, 3 1617. She was the daughter of Robert Newton. The two boys who came with their father Thomas to Jamestowne, and later were about Lunenberg Co. Virginia, were Henry, who evidently came to Virginia later in 1650; and Ferdinando.
Sir Thomas Gerard , evidently was to Jamestowne, as an agent to , and for the "Earl of Huntingdon" there. He later left and went back to London, and died, and is buried there1633/34...His son Henry later started my wife`s line (Henry Gerrard) as he came to Charles City Va., Prince George Co. in July 20, 1689....his son Nicholas "Jarrard" was in Surry Co , and a Will in July 16th 1718. His son of Joan`s line, was Thomas Jarrett who was in Brunswick, today called Lunenberg Co. his dates were 1709 and died 1789., and he had a Thomas Jarrett Jr.of Abbeyville SC, who had a Peter Jarrett of Lincoln Co GA. 1818, and born in 1765....whoi had a William Buckner Jarrett....Nathan Wright Jarrett....John Franklin Jarrett....Perry Franklin Jarrett....who had Joans Dad, Clay Perry Jarrett who was born about Adairsville, Ga....and got to Early Co. in SW Georgia , as Clay was a small boy.....and lived there about Blakely, Georgia, and family still in that area today.
Check out my Post on the Jarrett Family #1332, which gives names , dates, and et. al. of the children, and wives of this family too....some of you "Gerards" came here and became "Jarretts"...... Should you like me to send you a copy of Joan`s family via E-Mail, let me know and send your e-Mail address....Hope this helps someone out there.....
I also have a Post#8893 on the Howard Forum on the migration from Lunenberg Co. Va. of this family, thru Orange Co. , N.C., and into South Carolina...Western N.C., and on to Adairsville, and eventually they got, as I said , to Early Co.....and still many kin folks in Adairsville, Ga.....
