I was rather brief in my attempt to say that Dr. Thomas Gerard is not confusing, but that is not to say that others may be confused about other Gerards.Dr. Thomas Gerard that came to Marylandand settled St. Clements in St. Mary's Co. and who brought his wife Susannah Snowe and several of their children to Maryland.Prior to his entrance into America (His first trip was on the Ark and the Dove)his distant cousin Richard Gerard, son of Sir Thomas Gerard and Frances Molyneaux came to VA bought land there, sold it to the Jesuits and returned to England where he lived the rest of his life as an aid to the Royal family.I have not researched him further.Others are now telling me that another (it must be another) Thomas Gerard came to America. This one's name finally became Jarrett.I have just recently read about him.
Dr. Thomas Gerard and his family have been thoroughly studied by many researchers. He came from Lancashire. There is a lot of information in the County records there.
