Hi, I dont know if you've come into contact with some other letters which were for sale on ebay a while back.

in case you haven't: The letter which interests me was
dated 13th July 1801 and was sent by DAVID
AUCHINVOLE in NEW YORK to JAMES GERARD in
PAISLEY. I am trying to find the family of DAVID AUCHINVOLE. He emigrated in either 1800 or 1801 (or 1803 but the letter rules that out) to NY. I understood he comes from Edinburgh but with contacts in Paisley that is probably wrong too. Have you heard of him? Any suggestions where I can look?

Thanks
Claire
