Been looking for years for a connection to my families name in germany. Just recently discovered evidence of a name change. So now I need either lookup help? or just ideas on where to go for help. I've done the normal rootsweb and sites of the like with no luck. Here's my info....
Henry Niemier birthday unknown, died 1871 Hanover, Germany
married Justine Schafer also birthday unknown
their kid was August Niemier, born 27 Dec 1860 Falbrook, Germany. It is believed that at the age of 18 he stowed away on a ship bound for america. (that's an ol family tale so i cannot confirm if that's true)
After a few years in america and marring his wife Sophia, they abruptly changed their name to Niemeyer.
That's all I know, any help is greatly appreciated!
