The 15 Apr 1826 will of Johannes D. "John" Giesaman/Geesaman (19 Nov 1767 - 11 Dec 1826) of Guilford Township, Franklin County, PA, names his wife Sabina and nine children, including Rachel "married to Samuel Mock". He bequeathed land in Washington Township, Franklin County and also in Westmoreland County, PA. Rachel and Samuel had moved to Stark County, OH, in 1819, although this is not mentioned in the will. The other children named were Joseph, Jacob (who the transcriber notes married Barbara Reichard and moved to Stark County), Margaret, Sally, Elizabeth, Sabina m John Shillan [probably Shilling], Catherine m David Melaker/Metzker and Samuel. The transcript of the will starts "I, John Geesaman ...", but shows the signature as Johannes D. Giesaman. I take the latter as the spelling used by the testator, and Geesaman as the spelling used by the scribe of the will.
Assuming John Giesaman was about 23 when he married, his children would have probably been born between 1790 and 1810. This seems to identify Samuel with the Samuel Gesaman (1810-1886), and the Jacob Gesaman (died 1861) whose child was born in 1828, both of whom moved from Franklin County, PA to Stark County, OH, posted on this forum by Elizabeth Poire back 1999 and 2001
John's ancestry and siblings are documented online by John F. and Bernadine Newcomer. I would be very interested in exchanging information with anyone who has additional knowledge of this particular family and their descendants.
