Getty + Smith McAdoo McNutt Geck
A family bible is being auctioned on Ebay. The description includes the following:
Clearly this is not a Bible collectors item, the value of this Bible is in the Family History it contains - the Rudolph Smith family. In addition to the entry on the first page noted above, there are several entries in the Family History section. The entries begin with the birth dates of Mr. and Mrs. Smith in 1845 and 1849 respectively (Mrs. Smith's maiden name is never given). It appears that they had four children between 1877 and 1882. There are several other entries that appear to be spouses and/or grandchildren. All together there are 18 handwritten entries, not including the names of several teachers. Other surnames referred to (each one time) are: GETTY, MCNUTT, MCADOO, and ZECK (or Geck). This Bible was obtained in northeastern Maryland. In addition to the written entries, this Bible is rich in family heirlooms - there are several locks of hair, leaves, dried flowers, one or two newspaper articles, and some old photos. Unfortunately, few if any of these items are identified.
I am not the seller of this Bible but would like to see it in family hands. You may view the auction at:
