Alison:I am related to that line of Gholson. However, the records have an error in them.I have a copy of the marriage license which does, indeed, read "George S. Gholson to Parolee Hall", but the body of the license is correct in reading "John S. Gholson, aged 22 years, and Parolee Hall, 16 years, both of Davis County, Texas"...It is signed by J.M Patterson, whose was an ordained minister of the Gospel of the M.E. church and his credentials are recorded at Lewisville, Arkansas. They were married on Dec. 24, 1866.The document was recorded on January 15, 1867.My g-g-grandparents lived and are buried in Cass County, Texas, (Center Hill Cemetery) which is below Texarkana. They lived in the Bivens area.We have been to the cemetery where they are buried. There is still family land in the Cass County area.John S. Gholson died 1-1-1918.(I have a son who was born 1-1-1982)Parolee Hall Gholson died 12-14-1925. Extensive research and a book was published by one of our cousins, Martha Lou Holland, who has contributed many messages in this forum. If further info is needed, please write.Hope I didn't expand too much and duplicate info you already have.
