Henry & William Gibb in Pennsylvania
Posted by: Amy Gish Date: March 08, 2001 at 10:51:06

I am looking for information pertaining to Henry & William Gibb in the state of Pennsylvania. The information that is out there (that I have found) indicates that Henry (father) and William (son) at one point were located in Lancaster County, PA. My family tree traces directly back (by fathers) through Charles Alfred Gibb (b. 1935) to Harold Boyd Gibb to Charles Cornelius Gibb to William Gibb to William Gibb to Henry Gibb. The more recent William, a blacksmith, settled in Mt. Holly Springs area (Dickinson Twnshp.) I am completely positive of the connection of Charles Alfred back through the most recent William. However, I'm not sure about his father being another William and the elder William's father being Henry. I am looking for any information pertaining to any one of these people in the hopes that I can trace it back and find some answers.

There is also a Hiram Gibb whose dates would fit the family tree much more correctly than Henry. I'm starting to wonder . . .

To make matters worse, within the last few generations, a portion of the family changed their name (erroneously) to Gibbs. The reasons are irrelevant now, but it makes it more difficult.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
