Sorry to be so late in replying to your original message but I have just tried the Gibb forum and all details of your message seem to be relevant.
My mother was Elizabeth Cairns Gibb, b.1908 at East Parkhead Rows, Bellshill. In 1927 she married Harry Rodgers Hawkes and moved to Dumfries, leaving behind various Gibbs, including David, probably born around the early 1920's, and Jackie and Sadie. At least David (Davy) and Jackie moved to Corby, Northants and I believe this was just after the second world war. I know that, in Glasgow at least, David was a coalminer in his late teens though I don't know what he did in Corby.
Also living in East Parkhead Rows was a lady I always assumed to be my mother's sister - she was always known as 'Aunt Jana' but I think her christian name was actually Joanna.
If any of this gels with the details you have, please get in touch and perhaps we can both add to each other's knowledge.
