ROBERT GIBB b.1808, left Kincardine 1854

I am looking for information on:

ROBERT GIBB, born Aug. 1808(?) Scotland(?); died 29 Apr. 1888, Carberry, Manitoba, Canada; buried Apr. 1888 Carberry Plains, Carberry. He wasmarried to Jane. He was listed in the 1871 census as a carpenter living in Waterloo County, Ontario. He had 6 children, several of whom lived in Waterloo
County. I found Robert Gibb, carpenter, listed on Church Street in the 1864 Galt City Directory. Robert was my great-great grandfather.

One of Robert's sons was my great grandfather, David Gibb:

DAVID GIBB, born 1846c Kincardine(?), Perthshire, Scotland;
He came to Canada in 1854 with his parents and settled in Little's Corners
before coming to Galt (now part of Cambridge), Ontario. He was a machinist for Goldie-McCullough. He was a member of The Select Knights of Canada and the C.O.F. He was an advocate of prohibition. He died 22 Apr. 1894 in Galt and is buried in Mount View Cemetery. He was married 22 Sep. 1868, to Margaret McFarlane, daughter of John McFarlane and Margaret McNaughton.

A son of ROBERT, Malcolm, blacksmith, is listed on Shade Street in the 1864 Galt City Directory. Malcolm had several children.

No less than 20 Gibbs show up in the 1901 census of Galt and nearby.

My grandfather was ROBERT JAMES GIBB. He was born in 1870.

My Father, Robert MacKay Gibb, was born in 1900 and raised in Galt. He moved to the USA about 1919.

Any help with Robert, b. 1808, would be appreciated. For his descendants, I have quite a bit of information and would be happy to share it. Jim Gibb
