Gibbonney in Mo and Tenn
I am amazed that there are so few researching the Gibbony surname!!!
My ggg grandmother was Dorthula Gibbonney. She married Peter Miller in 1865 in St.Mary, Mo. The census record that I found for her says her parents were born in Tenn. Dorthula Gibbonney Miller died young. She had two children: Thomas Herbert Miller b. 1869 and Lottie Mae Miller b. 1872. While the children were both under 10 she had died, their father gave them to two different families in two different counties in Mo. He told the children that he was going back to Germany and that he would return for them. That never happened. Thomas Herbert Miller was left with the Cloniger family in Wayne Co.Mo. and Lottie was left with the Julius Betzel in Irontown Mo. According to the 1880 census they were both listed as servants. (8 and 11 yrs old) I was hoping that one of the households were their mothers people.
I think that Peter Miller may have never made it back to Germany. I found him on the 1880 census still living in Mo. as a farm laborer and in the 1900 St.Louis Mo. census. I think if this is him, he was living in a home for the poor and infirmed in St.Louis.
My g grandmother, Lottie Mae Miller did not recall much about her parents, but I am most interested in finding information about my Gibbonney roots.
Please let me know if anyone recognizes my branch of the family or could even give me ideas of where or how to find more about them.
