Starting Sept. 5, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

GIL FAMILY GENEALOGY. WEB SITE

My husband Bob is a descendant of Jose Maria Gil b. 1821 in Madrid, Spain. His father was Jose Leon Gil, Latinized from his Scottish name of McGill. We are hoping to find out just where in Scotland he came from. Jose Leon married Lousa Allos of Madrid. This family moved to Mexico, remaining there except for young Jose Maria who went to the gold fields of California in the Gold Rush era. Jose was successful and went to Jolon, Monterey Co., CA., built an adobe which stands today and is on the register of historical places. We have photos of this family and the adobe. The web site is called the "Gregory Family Website" but includes all his known genealogy lines, including GIL. Would love to have you come by for a visit, but it is by invitation only. Please email me privately for this invitation please! Thanks.
