Hello! I am a participant in the FamilyTreeDNA Gilchrist Project. Recently had a perfect DNA match with a Gilchrist line that left Lanarkshire around 1821. My line was in U.S. prior to 1774. Trying to tie them together with a common male ancestor. Can anyone give me any direction on the best way to do that with records. The 1821 line has tried with researchers both here and in Scotland to no avail. Anyone know of a Gilchrist Line in Scotland who might help...especially one in Lanarkshire. I'm thinking I may have to try and get DNA participants who can trace their line there or who live there now. Short of that I'm unsure what to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Will note that we have the records where the guy arrived in Baltimore in 1821. Gives the area he left (Lanarkshire)but nothing more. Does say he left Belfast though. (assuming a brief stop from Glasgow where he says he shipped out)Thanks for any help.
