My grandmother was Allie Bell GILCHRIST born 10 Jun 1884 in Harvard, Clay Co., Nebraska. (There are no birth records - destroyed) Her parents (according to census and social security records)were Alexander Thomas GILCHRIST and Helen P. Taylor. According to census records from Nebraska Allie had a sister born in or around 1880 in Nebraska her name was Rosie May. (or Rosey May) We had never heard of this child before I found her on the census. I have since discovered that she married a Samuel Haskins and that they lived in New York state. Since my father did not remember his mother mentioning a sister Rose or Rosie we assume they had a falling out sometime after Samuel witnessed the wedding of Allie Bell to Max von Aspern in 1912. According to census 1860 Washington Co., New York Helen P. Taylor was the daughter of Robert and Rozilla. Allie's brothers born later in New York: Earl and Robert (Earl married Doris CURTIS or MORRIS and Robert marriesd Ann or Nan BOWEN) Alexander was born in New York about 1851 (date from census) Helen was also born in New York. Alexander's father Andrew was born in Ireland NOT in Scotland as were so many other Gilchrists. Andrew was married to Sarah P. White they had children: Orren, Anna, Alexander (my great grandfather) and Sarah. Allie (daughter of Alexander) married my grandfather Max von Aspern in New York on 18 June 1912. I am looking for any information on Alexander Gilchrist, Rose (Rosie/Rosey May) and Helen P. Taylor and their relations. My e-mail is KvonA@hotmail.com (has been for about 8 years and always will be...unless hotmail goes out of biz) Can you help? Does any of this ring a bell? Notify Administrator about this message?
