My ancestry Margaret Gilkerson chr Lesmahagow Lanarkshire 1775 father Thomas mother Mary Brown she died 1855 stating her maiden name was Gilchrist this name change was the last of at least 3 derivitives of Gilkerson as named to her children over 20 years. Gilchrist was probably the name given in later years you should maybe look into all these derivitives of Gilkerson or Gilchrist I would say there were a number of families of Gilkerson in the area of Lesmahagow Lamarkshire.
