Mr Gilchrist is my ggggrandfather. My records, which were compiled by my grandmother Dorothy Wilkinson Hawk, great grand daughter of Mr. Gilchrist, indicate that he was born in Scotland, (most likely Dumfries as his father was a Burgess there), in 1765.The family soon after left Scotland for America, settling in Lancaster County, Pa., in a place called Little Britain Twp. He married Jane Orr on March 13, 1804, and died in Savanna, Ohio in 1835.I regret that I can't give you an exact birthdate, just a confirmation of the year 1765.
