Hi Anthony - hope you enjoyed your visit to Ardara, Co. Donegal. As I posted in my message last month, my grandfather, John Gildea was born in Ardara in 1882. He came to the US in the early 1900's. Unfortunately, I don't know much about the Gildea side of the family. He married Anna Branigan from Killybegs and had three children - Kathleen, John and my mother, Mary. They settled in Brooklyn, NY and moved to South Ozone Park, NY. Don't know if there are any connections - Ardara is a fairly small town - and I'm not sure how common the Gildea name is. Could have been cousins. Did your Irish relatives have much to offer regarding ancestry?
