This obituary was in my grandmother's scrap book. There isn't a date, but most articles were in the 1930's and 40's. The newspaper was probably the Cheney Free Press, Spokane County, Washington.
DEATH CLAIMS OLIVER GILDEA
Services for Oliver Gildea, 70, resident of Spokane county for 61 years, were held Wednesday at 2 p. m. from the Christian church at Spangle with the Reverend George Bushell of Cheney officiating. burial was in the Spangle cemetery. The Jerue Funeral home was in charge. Mr. Gildea died Sunday after a lingering illness.
He was born in Des Moines, Iowa and came to the Spangle district in 1878. He lived there until 1925, when he moved to Cheney. He was a member of the Spangle Odd Fellows' lodge and of the Cheney lodge of Modern Woodman.
He is survived by his wife, Daisy; two daughters, Mrs. Gracie Hurst, of Plaza and Alice at the home here; three sons, Loren in Idaho, LeRoy of Idaho Falls, and George of Spangle; two brothers, Cal of Oregon City and Frank of Garfield, and two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Osborn of Fresno, California, and Mrs. Anna Parker of Los Angeles.
