Jarvie, Jarvis, Donaldson, McPherson, McDougal, Downie, Dowine, McCoulloch, Nichoal, Braid, Rovand, Provand, Stirling, Paterson, Aitken, Gilles, Handforth, Bankier, Chapman, Runciman, Horn, Johnston, Sword, Meikle, Nisbet, McLaren, Fleming, Drumond, Miller, Frew, Jamaison, Cleland, Baird, Ferguson, Lawrie, Latta, Burns, Hudson, Wallace, Johnston, Smart, Workman, Bruce,

All these families lived in Kilsyth, Scotland in 1851.

The Kilsyth website at www.kilsyth.org.uk now includes quite a bit of useful information on these families, including the complete 1851 census for the area and local graveyard inscriptions. Follow the History link from the index page. Well worth checking out! And of course, you are all welcome to come and visit this delightful town in central Scotland, - there is even a list of Hotels and Bed and Breakfast establishments so you can select your hostelry online!

Rob Kay, Secretary, Kilsyth community Council
