Hi, Ron, thanks so much for your insightful reply. Roderick , the son of Isaac and Huldah Gillett, was born too late (1799)to have gotten married in 1807. Secondly, Fanny Joy was the wife of the "Roderick" I was inquiring about. Fanny was the dtr of Abiathar and Elizabeth Joy. "Roderic" is listed on Fanny's tombstone as her husband. I have visited the Gravesville cemetery in Russia, NY, and have seen the marker. BothRoderick and Fanny are also listed in the booklet on the Russian Union Church. I have deducted, but cetainly can't prove at this point, that my Roderick is the son of Seth, Cephas, or Luther Gillett, all of whom were sons of Benjamin, II, Gillett and Lydia Hayes with origins in Suffield, CT. Of course, the "Isaac' you mention, was also a son of this couple. The town historian in Boonville, NY has been unable to trace this line as well.
Just this week, I have discovered from the NEGHS in Boston that A "Roderick Gillet" applied to be the administrator in Herkimer County, NY,of Cephas Gillett's estate on 3 October, 1820. Isaac's son, Roderick, was dead by several months when this application was made. It does appear that this situation points to being somewhere in this Bejamin, II, family. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Will Newton
