I have heard of the Gilland family coming from Scotland originally. I am curious, too. I was told my Gilland ancestor's name was changed from Gilliland to Gilland by the person who wrote the name down when they arrived in the U.S.
My line is:
William Gilland and C Clark. They had at least one son, James, who married Esther Sixbury and had 4 children; Hiram, Carrie, Ella and Albert. Hiram married Mary Wigglesworth. Ella married William VanLoan and Albert married Marian Sharp. I don't know about Carrie. Marian and Albert had one son, my dad, Gerald. He married Ellen Lindstrom.
If anyone has a connection I sure would appreciate hearing from you.
