I am not sure there is a connection, but I am checking any New Brunswick Gillies just in case. My gg grandfather John Gillies was born in Scotland in 1819-20 and immigrated to Nova Scotia sometime between then and 1840. He married Christina Cameron of Nova Scotia and they lived in Port Hastings, NS for a time. The family moved to Moncton, N.B. in the late 1850s. John was a shoemaker by trade and was Presbyterian. The children's names were Margaret Emily, John Cameron, Mary Ann, Isaac, Martha,Isabella, Murdock and Annie. With his second wife Caroline Morse of Moncton he had children James/Percival and Ida. I have not been able to find what happened to several of these children and wonder if they moved to other parts of the province. If any information here seems to fit with yours, please let me know. I also know of another person researching a William Gillies in NB. Possibly he is a connection.
Thank you.
