David Gillikin 1777 and Thomas Gillikin 1670 NC

I am trying to figure out who was the first Gillikin in my husband's family to arrive in the United States, and from where. The line has two branches (some second cousins married somewhere along the way), but I hit a dead end at David Gillikin, who I believe was born in 1777 (father of Asa, 1806-1866, Carteret, NC).... and again at Thomas Gillikin Sr. who I believe was born around 1670 (father of Thomas Gillikin 1703-1778, born in Norfolk, VA but died in Carteret).

Does anybody have any information on either of these men, particularly where they were born? Any scrap of information would be helpful! Thanks,
